The appearance of B-Class Electric Drive is almost identical to the usual B-Class. The only external difference, not counting the badges and the blue-blue decor, is that the Electric Drive version is a few centimeters taller: the car had to be lifted because of the batteries hidden in the floor. The interior of the electric version is also similar to the modifications with ICE: cozy and spacious, with notes of luxury, it is completely executed in the "Mercedes" style.
In technical terms, B-Class Electric Drive is interested in joint training with Tesla Motors. In particular, the company from the Silicon Valley worked on a 28-kilowatt lithium-ion battery, which feeds a 180-horsepower electric motor. For comparison, the main competitors of the electric B-Class - Nissan LEAF and BMW i3 - are equipped with batteries for 24 kWh and 22 kWh. Thus, among all three models the B-Class Electric Drive has the most capacious battery. In addition, for the B-Class Electric Drive, Tesla has developed a charging capacity of 10 kW, which is also the most productive among competitors.
The comfort and safety features of the B-Class, both standard and optional, are quite extensive and include: a multimedia navigation system with voice control and Internet access; A special instrument panel showing the current output of the motor or the power of recovery during braking; means for remote monitoring of the condition of an electric vehicle using a computer or a smartphone; collision avoidance system, driver fatigue control, tracking of "blind spots", as well as front, knee and window airbags. In addition, for a surcharge the manufacturer offers a package of energy efficiency improvements that allow driving another 30 km due to charging the battery by 15% above the norm and by reducing the energy consumption of other consumers.
