The BMW iX is the new technology flagship of the Bavarian automaker. The model is built on an innovative component base that determines the future of the concern's electric vehicles. At the launch of the BMW iX, the iX xDrive40 and iX xDrive50 modifications will be available, they are equipped with four-wheel drive and two electric motors - one electric motor for each axle.
The modification of the BMW iX xDrive50 is driven by a power plant with a capacity of over 500 horsepower, which provides excellent dynamic performance - less than 5 seconds from standstill to 100 km / h. The power reserve on a single charge is more than 600 kilometers. This version will get a 100-kilowatt battery.
It should be noted that the BMW iX is equipped with the finest optics in the history of BMW production vehicles. LED headlights and taillights come as standard. The latest generation BMW Laserlight headlights are available as an option, combining matrix technology and a laser module.
The daytime running lights are located above the main unit and act as direction indicators. For the first time in BMW history, an SAV-class vehicle is equipped with frameless doors that underline the sporty character of the BMW iX. The integrated door handles feature contrasting colors and niche lighting.
In addition, the BMW iX is the first production car of the BMW brand with a hexagonal steering wheel, this shape of the steering wheel gives the driver a better view of the dashboard. On the spokes are touch-sensitive controls. Recycled materials and natural raw materials are widely used in the interior decoration of the BMW iX. These include recyclable plastics and aluminum, FSC-certified wood, and Econyl nylon flooring and mats from recycled fishing nets and plastics. The leather is treated with olive leaf extract instead of traditional tanning agents.
The BMW iX debuts the new iDrive infotainment system and the BMW 8 operating system. The BMW Curved Display combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 14.9-inch wide center display.
The BMW iX will be assembled at the Dingolfing plant, with the company placing particular emphasis on the sustainability of the process itself.
