Ford will introduce an electric crossover before the end of this year. It is reported by Autocar, citing a source familiar with the situation. According to him, in 2019 the concept of the future model will debut. Sales of the serial version of the car are scheduled for next year. The main competitor of the novelty is called Tesla Model Y. Manufacture of electric vehicles will start at the Ford plant in Mexico.
According to preliminary data, the car will go on sale under the name Mach-E. The development of the new unit is engaged in Ford Team Edison, which is responsible for creating all environmentally friendly models of the American brand.

According to unofficial data, the range of the electric car will be about 600 kilometers. The novelty will be built on a platform called EV. The design of the model will resemble a Mustang.

This is not the only electric car that Ford is working on. The appearance of a “green” model, which will compete with the Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla Model 3, is also not excluded. This car can be built on the C2 platform, which the new Focus uses.
In the development plan for electrified vehicles until 2020, the manufacturer intends to invest about $ 4.5 billion. In total, 13 electric cars will appear in the model lineup of the company. Ford hopes that in 2020, 40% of global brand sales will come from just such cars. In particular, in 2022, an F-150 pickup truck and a Mustang sports car should appear with benzoelectric power plants.
