Competitor Tesla model X from Volkswagen

The German concern Volkswagen intends to create an inexpensive compact crossover. The company stressed that the new model will become a competitor to Tesla in Europe.

According to the head of VW Herbert Diss, the new model will have the same technical characteristics as Tesla, however, the cost of the novelty will be 18,000 euros.

The car will be made in the format of VW T-Cross, and on one charge can overcome up to 400 km.

It is possible that the electric car will be created on the already well-known MEB platform, which the Volkswagen ID has received. That is what will significantly reduce the price of the car.

It is expected that the concern will present a new electric car next year. Diss also said that creating a small and inexpensive electric car is quite difficult. However, in view of the company's intentions to increase the share of e-mobility up to 40 percent by 2030, VW should take up this segment.
