Volvo introduced the Volvo XC40 compact crossover in the fall of 2017, promising to introduce a fully electric version of the model a little later. According to the publication Automotive News, this moment will come before the end of this year.
Representatives of the automaker noted that the announcement of the Volvo XC40 electric car will take place at one of the major auto shows at the end of 2019. At the same time, the serial version of the electrocross will enter the market in 2020, simultaneously with another electric model of the related brand Polestar 2. At the same time, the fastback Polestar 2 is going to compete with the Tesla Model 3, and the Volvo XC40 crossover seems to be with the Tesla Model Y.
Both Volvo XC40 and Polestar 2 are based on the same Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, so you can expect similar power and power reserve characteristics from them. Recall that Polestar 2 received a pair of electric motors with a total power of 300 kW and a battery with a capacity of 78 kWh, which provides a power reserve of 500 km through the cycles of WLTP and NEDC.
