Electric VW ID.3 sold out half in just a week

Volkswagen has announced the results of the first week since the opening of the acceptance of orders for the ID.3 electric car. And the Germans seem to be quite happy with them.

Earlier it was reported that sales of the first serial electric car in the history of Volkswagen, named ID.3, will start with a special 1st version of the hatchbacks, and only 30,000 of such electric vehicles will be produced. The manufacturer clarified that 10,000 of them were booked within 24 hours after the start of taking orders. Then the rate of acceptance of applications fell sharply, but at the moment a special series of VW ID.3 is still sold out more than half.

Thus, the rate of receipt of applications can be estimated as a thousand per day - excluding the first day. These rates significantly exceed Volkswagen's calculations: it is known that the concern’s strategic goal is to sell 100,000 ID.3 copies a year. On the other hand, the company will inevitably have to face the factor of market saturation, whereas now the surge in customer activity can be explained by the fundamental novelty of the model and its relatively affordable price. To reserve an electric hatch, which is expected to cost around 40,000 euros, you need to make a deposit of 1,000 euros.

It is noted that the greatest interest in the new product is shown by potential buyers in countries where sales of electric cars are already high. The list includes, for example, Germany, Norway, Holland, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

Volkswagen board member Jürgen Stackmann has already noted that such activity is a clear confirmation of the buyers ’willingness to switch to electric motors and urged those who want to be among the first not to linger: according to him, the number of preliminary applications is steadily increasing.
