Tesla (formerly Tesla Motors) is an American company that manufactures electric vehicles and (through its SolarCity subsidiary) storage solutions for electric energy.

The company was founded in July 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Mark Tarpenning, but the company itself considers Elon Musk, Jeffrey Brian Strobel and Ian Wright its co-founders.

Named after the world famous electrical engineer and physicist Nikola Tesla.
The company's first electric car was the Tesla Roadster with a cost of $ 100,000. The first electric cars were made back in 2006, and mass production was launched in 2008 and sold until 2012.

The second electric car became the well-known and popular Tesla Model S now, the car concept was presented on March 26, 2009. The supply of cars in the United States began on June 22, 2012. Initially, only two versions were offered: 60 and 85 kWh, equipped with one electric motor located on the rear axle.

The third electric car of the company was the Tesla Model X crossover. On February 9, 2012, the company introduced a prototype of the new model.
Compared to Model S, the following changes have been made: a 3rd row of seats has been added, automatic rear doors opening upward for passengers to enter the 2nd and 3rd row, a special HEPA filter for air purification.
Full sales began only in the 1st quarter of 2016 and then 2,400 Tesla Model X were sold.

Tesla Model 3 became the fourth model of the manufacturer. And originally it was called Model E and “BlueStar”, but due to the fact that Ford already had a model called E, the Mask had to be renamed almost visually similar to 3 at the last moment.
The model was presented to the public on April 1, 2016. For the first week, 325 thousand people reserved a car, making a deposit of one thousand dollars. Production started only at the end of 2017.
The next model is aimed at the business community that is engaged in freight transportation and this is the fifth model of the company. Already on November 16, 2017, Tesla held a presentation of the Tesla Semi electric tractor, the delivery of which is due to begin in 2019. The power reserve of an electric truck is approximately 800 km (possibly 900 km) with a load of 40 tons. Sometimes this car is called the first in the world in the class of electric trucks.

And finally, the sixth model of Tesla Model Y is an electric crossover, a budget version of Model X designed to further popularize electric cars as model 3. At 76%, it consists of parts of Tesla Model 3 - the manufacturer’s most popular model so far. At the same time, the new electric car is 10% larger in size than the troika. It has seats for 7 passengers. The rear seats are folded separately from each other, which allows for the transport of bulky goods, such as skis or even furniture, if necessary. Sales are scheduled for fall 2020.

Tesla is also rolling out a network of Superchargers, electric vehicle charging stations designed to make long trips on Tesla cars. Some stations use energy from solar panels (in the future, it is planned to transfer all stations to use solar energy). All new cars have the ability to use the stations, but some old 60 kWh models require the purchase of an additional module.

Tesla's plans to deploy a network of charges were regularly postponed: for example, in 2018 there are still no Supercharger stations in North Dakota, Hawaii and Alaska. For Europe in 2018, the easternmost stations are in Croatia, Hungary and Poland, it is still impossible to travel to Istanbul using only Supercharger stations (the ability to travel from Lisbon to Istanbul using only Supercharger was postulated at the end of 2016).

Despite some delays, the Supercharger charging network has grown very rapidly all these years and has become one of the main advantages of the company. Charging Superchargers from competitors is distinguished primarily by its high charging speed (up to 150 kW), and at the moment there are stations that provide a speed of 250 kW, a convenient location along highways and a large number of charging racks (stall) at each charging station (8 on average, maximum up to 50) and ease of payment. Thus, the Supercharger charging network allows Tesla electric vehicle owners to travel long distances much more conveniently and faster than competitors' electric vehicle owners.
In the third quarter of 2017, the Supercharger charging network is in second place in terms of the number of electric cars produced with the corresponding connector (256 855), ahead of CCS (187 481) and behind only CHADEMO (542 780).

In June 2018, the total number of Supercharger charging racks was 10,000, with the number of charging stations reaching 1,263. Tesla claims that 99% of US residents live less than 240 km from the Supercharger charging station
Current data on the location of Supercharger charges can be viewed on the Tesla website, regularly updated graphics are provided by the supercharge.info website
